Nzinga is one of the strongest voices around diversity and inclusion. She is focused on helping diversity leaders utilize their skill sets to drive company growth. Additionally, Nzinga also became the first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks.
Nzinga talks with Jamie and Ana about the duties of diversity and inclusion leaders in firms and how to prepare yourself for success.

Oftentimes a lot of us have dreams and goals and we just think they’re going to happen out of osmosis, but it doesn’t work like that. You’ve got to put strong intention out there, but then do the things that are necessary to prepare you for that.” ~ Nzinga Shaw
- You have to be your own biggest supporter in life. Self-confidence and self-belief play a huge role in each person’s success.
- As soon as you have created a plan for your vision, you have to put it into action. Start researching, networking, and documenting your journey.
- Not everyone will be on board with your plans and decisions at first. If you want them to understand your perspective, listen to their story first and find commonalities.
- The responsibility to make a change in the working environment is on every individual of the company. For leaders, give minorities not just opportunities, but also voices to impact business growth.
